A Journey Through Manila's Dessert Museum
Sweet Chaos Between Rodeo Cows and Cotton Candy, And How I Found Myself Inside A Squid Game?
Inside the same massive TIME & SPACE CUBE complex, I found The Dessert Museum. I had checked ahead of time and saw that buying a ticket online was ₱200 cheaper, so I paid ₱600 ($10.50) instead of ₱800.
Right at the entrance, I walked through a giant donut, leading me straight into the donut room. There, I received a large token, which I inserted into a machine that dispensed a ball filled with colorful sprinkles. Sweet beginnings!
In every room, there were professional photographers offering to take pictures. I noticed others handing them their phones, so I did the same. "Too many pictures in one day," I thought to myself.
From the donut room, I moved on to the cotton candy room and suddenly found it hilarious that in Hebrew, we call it “Grandma’s Hair.” Who even came up with that name? 😂 There, I made my cotton candy stick and enjoyed every fluffy bite.
The next room was packed with "photo opportunities." I guess that’s what really sells these days, and it’s what people enjoy most—so why not?
But the thing that intrigued me the most, the one that brought out my inner child in full excitement, was the human claw machine.
It was exactly like a classic candy claw machine, except here, you lie on a suspended belt while someone operates a joystick, moving you like a mechanical claw, and your goal is to grab as much candy as possible from the floor.
I was so excited about this that I didn’t even mind that it cost an extra ₱200. I stood there debating. The staff was pressuring me to try it, but I eventually realized—this was meant for kids. Maybe the little girl in me wanted it badly, but I was no longer a child (and definitely not child-sized!), so I let it go.
Next, I entered the banana room, which was simply adorable. A museum staff member smiled at me and said, “You can take as many ice creams as you want!” When I settled for just one small scoop, he looked completely shocked.
But then came the highlight of the museum for me—the game room.
Right on the bar counter was **the ultimate game—**the Squid Game cookie challenge!
Wow! I was so excited to play this! I immediately remembered the trick—licking the cookie to break it without failing. It had a sweet, sticky caramel taste, which added even more to the experience.
"You guys know the show, right?" the staff member asked.
"Of course! I just hope the punishment here is less severe—otherwise, this attraction is going to get some really bad reviews!" I joked, making everyone laugh.
Even though the penalty here wasn’t death, the game was intensely nerve-wracking. I carefully broke apart the cookie, doing everything I could not to mess up.
Luckily, I managed to keep the heart shape intact and survive!
What a brilliant idea to include this game here! Just the thought of the museum collaborating with this concept amazed me.
Still full of adrenaline, I moved on to the milk room, where there were rodeo machines—like a classic mechanical bull, but instead, crazy spinning cows.
"Come on, get on!" the staff encouraged me.
I probably didn’t think twice because I just went for it. Or at least, I tried to get on—but completely failed. The operator had to help me up (first embarrassment of the day).
The cow started rocking from side to side, up and down. Wow! It was hilarious, fun, and slightly terrifying—all at once. As it got faster and wilder, I realized—yep, this was definitely meant for kids.
Even though I was having a blast, I decided to let go and hop off.
"I’ll take a picture of you by the dollhouse, and then you can head to the final dessert station," the staff member told me.
"More desserts??" I blurted out in surprise.
"It’s The Dessert Museum," he grinned.
And this time? We got a chocolate ice cream sandwich with sprinkles, sandwiched between two salty crackers. Wow! An amazing flavor combo! My taste buds were in heaven, though the logistics of taking a bite were a bit of a struggle.
To finish, we were served strawberry chocolate pieces shaped like ice cream alongside mini cheesecakes with whipped cream—and they were absolutely divine!
I arrived at the final room, where giant metal candy balls hung from the ceiling.
The photographer pointed at one and told me to sit on it—
"Like a wrecking ball!"
And that completely cracked me up.
And guess what was in the gift shop at the end of the exhibit?
Not books, of course.
The entire place was filled with every kind of candy imaginable.
It was a delightfully sweet experience in every sense.
One thing’s for sure—it’s best to come here hungry. 🍭🍩🍫
